Entrepreneurial Characteristics

                After an industrial accident in 1996, I made a promise to commit and set the goals needed to develop business skills.  This meant, sell the house, move out of Quebec , get educated, and get the experience needed to start a business.   I would not work in industry again, at least not as a slave.  I turned a bad experience into a “new opportunity.”  That is where I am today.

                Confidence is in abundance as I struggle through the risk taking, finding the energy, and being as flexible and versatile as I can.  Those are the week points in my personality.  But I am a positive thinker because of the course “Thought Patterns For a Successful Career by Lou Tice and The Pacific Institute” required for diploma taken at the Academy of Learning Business College.  That course says it all.  Extensive studying has been done regularly.  I could even read and study this course and multiply my thought patterns to strengthen my weaknesses.  More of the attributes the course exploits are:  comfort zones, gestalt, talk the talk, self talk, Inhibitive Motivation, Reticular Activating System, Placebo Effect and more, I think you get the idea!   I’ll read it again, and again, and again, the more read, the better it gets!  It’s a very intense course with lots of encouragement.

Business Skills

                As you have observed from above, I have the abilities of turning fate into opportunities, goal setting, formulating ideas, and obtaining technical assistance.  On the other hand I am not a Lawyer, accountant, but people can be hired to do these tasks.  The course Management Fundamentals, one of the courses in the diploma requirements, has taught me a treasure of knowledge.  Some of the skills acquired by taking it were leadership, time management, and problem solving, planning, organizing, and communicating effectively.  Being a computer specialist I also have keyboarding skills, knowledge on computer and software applications.  Included requirements for the diploma, I chose as elective courses were the Customer Service and the Business Correspondence which will be a great benefit in the quest, not to mention the inventory skills from previous employment.  I have all these skills!  I planned it that way six years ago.

Personal Factors

                I will need to convey to a ten year old son, that my time is limited once I begin working.  I will also need a will to settle accounts in the case of any misfortune.  I will need to exercise a little for a better physical attitude, but the doctor said, “You’re in great shape!”  In today’s economic recovery processes, financing will not be the greatest problem because all financial institutes want the country to succeed.  Financial requirements will not be great as I will not need premises to start the business.  Confidence, support from the family, the willingness to change with the positive outlook convinces the inner thoughts to go ahead and perform.  The right diet, and expert stress management tells me I have what it takes.   Great care and thought has gone into this venture that started six years ago, and I am ready for anything this world can dish out.  If not by the knowledge, the pure instincts of survival will be my offence.
